Sights and Sounds of Fall

Ah, fall! That time of year when summer fades, and you can just feel the change in the air. There are certain sights and sounds that are unique to this season, the visual and aural reminders that yes, autumn has indeed arrived.

Things like....

billows of smoke emanating from the nearest mountain range,

a layer of ash on your car when you wake up in the morning,

the sound of fire engines wailing and helicopters life-flighting,

soccer games that get cancelled due to poor air quality,

lungs that fill with smoke when you take a deep breath,

and kids who inform you they played Heads Up 7-Up for recess since they couldn't play outside.

Welcome to southern California.

You are a riot! Hope those fires stay far away from your house. Do we need to send you some oxygen tanks?

Living in Southern California in the fall makes me miss Michigan. Autumn in Michigan is wonderful. We should move back.

Too funny! Our fall is beautiful--with all the sights and sounds one normally associates with a New England fall.
